Sources and updates
Company information comes from public U.S. state registries; trademark information comes from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Available fields and update schedules vary, and records may be delayed, incomplete or temporarily unavailable. Sanctions records come from public lists issued by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Official publication and site synchronization are different events; refer to the dates shown on the page.
The retrieval time shows when we obtained the information, not when the official record was last updated.
Identifying the record
For companies, check the name, entity ID and registration state. For trademarks, check the name and serial or registration number. Identical names may refer to different records. Neither identical nor similar names alone establish that two records concern the same entity. A sanctions hit requires review of aliases, addresses and available identifiers; no hit does not establish that a transaction is unrestricted.
Company ID searches require an identifier supported by the selected state. Some states require an internal registry ID, as explained on the search form.
Understanding name searches
Company name-availability and trademark name searches provide preliminary guidance only. No match does not guarantee registrability, and similar names do not necessarily establish a conflict. A name may be reserved, restricted or not yet listed; the registry decides whether it can be registered.
For trademarks, consider the goods and services, current status and relevant rights. Trademark name searches do not assess phonetic or design similarity. These searches are not name approval, reservation or a trademark clearance opinion.
No results or missing information
Names, identifiers, coverage and update delays can affect results. No match does not prove that a company does not exist or that a trademark application has not been filed. Check the entries and selected state first.
A missing field means the returned data does not provide that information, not that the underlying fact does not exist. A nationwide final report is delivered only after overall processing completes; completion does not mean every state returned usable results. Unavailable, failed or still-processing state results must not be read as having no same-name companies.
History, documents and translations
Only available public records are shown; histories and documents may be incomplete. Trademark applicants and owners may represent different historical stages rather than the current owner.
Names, addresses, document titles, and trademark goods and services retain their original wording. Some explanations are translated; the official record governs if meanings differ. Direct viewing or download links are provided where available; access and continued availability depend on the provider. Site PDFs and screenshots summarize the specific search; they are not government-certified documents. Nationwide deliveries contain same-name details and available screenshots only. You may save attachments, but completed results cannot be reopened.
EIN verification
Check whether a business’s English name matches its EIN. Matching follows the upstream tax-name rules and does not verify every character of the full legal name. A match does not establish standing, operating status, creditworthiness or authority. Recently applied-for numbers may not yet appear in available records. A mismatch or an EIN not found does not by itself establish that the EIN is invalid. Pending, duplicate or unprocessable requests are not mismatch findings. Verification does not provide tax-return records and is not an IRS certificate.
Guides and search coverage
State features and business guides cover all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Each page retains its dates, notes and sources. Guide coverage does not imply real-time search coverage or availability. The knowledge base is general reference material. Annual-report estimates use your inputs and the stated rules; they are not official bills, confirmation of a deadline or proof of filing. Check the relevant year, entity type and authority’s requirements.
Company search coverage follows the current list. Trademark searches cover public U.S. federal trademark applications and registrations from the USPTO. Available records and details may vary. Coverage figures indicate scale only. The company estimate includes historical and interstate registrations, not unique active businesses or verifiable EINs.
CoverageUsing the information
STATE.REPORT is an independent information service, not a government website or certification body, and is not affiliated with any government agency or registry.
Company and trademark information comes from public records and may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. Results may not include all historical records. Company registration status alone does not establish ownership, financial condition, standing, creditworthiness or overall compliance. Trademark results do not establish registrability or freedom from infringement.
Information is for general reference, not legal, tax or financial advice. Independently verify information before important decisions; current information and certified documents are governed by the relevant official records.
Use of this service is subject to the Terms of Service; personal information is handled under the Privacy Policy.
